Let it be known that I'm a Huge Fan of Classic 70’s and 80’s Horror movies. Horror Film Franchises take up a lot of space on my Blueray and DVD Shelves. Charles Lee Ray, Jason Voorhees, Ashly Williams vs. the Evil Dead, the Shape, and of course, Freddy Krueger! When I was living in Los Angeles as a kid, Rina and I watched a lot of movies together. To this day, we have horror movie nights. Take out delivery and scary movies to end our work week. We’ve imported a lot of American Bluerays and watch them on our PS5. I honestly can’t get into modern horror or reboots. Nothing better than the originals.
A Nightmare on Elm Street for the Nintendo Entertainment System is a very fun and ambitious game. You can play up to Four Players simultaneously with the NES Four Score Adapter. LJN Published it, but RARE Developed it. Yes, RARE. As in Donkey Kong Country and Banjo-Kazooie RARE. David Wise is its music composer, which is always a treat for the ears. LJN gets a bad rap, as it should, but this is one of their actual Good Games they’ve published. The controls are tight and the level designs are fun. My only gripes is that you get respawned too close to the death pit you fell into. You can fall into it again, if you’re still pushing forward. Losing two lives in one trap. The Bosses are too simply designed and the boss music is repetitively dull. Freddy just walks back and forward, and occasional does a hop. I can forgive this, because these bosses were designed for four players in mind. I can imagine that the room would be very crowded, and battles would be quick.
If you’re a horror movie buff like myself, and want to have a Great Time with friends, play A Nightmare on Elm Street on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Get the NES Four Score Adapter and see if you can take on Freddy Krueger together, just like the “Dream Warriors”! Highly recommended!
