No one takes Master Higgins’s girl, and lives!
Aliens have come to conquer the earth, and they’ve kidnapped Princess Tina! It’s up to Master Higgins to chase down these invaders and get back his girl. Traversing Adventure Island and defeating enemies that are being mind controlled by the evil aliens. Luckily, his dinosaur friends are not affected, because they’re still in their eggs. He won’t rest, until Tina is saved and Adventure Island is peaceful again.
Adventure Island 3 is the series in peak perfection. If the controls felt flawed in the previous game, well the developers have tightened them. Making this the best of the NES Trilogy. Most of the music and enemies are the same, but that’s fine. Only a few additional songs and Master Higgins can duck now, so you can dodge projectiles and hit lower enemies.
My only complaint is the boomerang is really not great. The accuracy is bad. You need to wait for it to return, before you can throw it again, making you vulnerable to aggression enemies. Sure, it does more damage and it breaks rocks. It’s too much of a detriment than a benefit overall. Avoid picking it up over your typical stone battle hammer.
Adventure Island 3 is highly recommended. I absolutely approve this game for complete play through. That is, if you got the grit to beat it, as it is just as difficult as Adventure Island 2.
And if you’re wondering, no, I will not be reviewing Adventure Island 4 for the Famicom on this blog. This is an American NES games review blog. However, I have played it and it is also very good.
