Asterix and the Secret Mission - SEGA Master System

Ok, let me start off on a positive note: The sprite work is excellent. The character details are so well illustrated, especially for a Master System game. Goes to show how powerful the Master System is when its full capabilities are used.

This game is just BAD. I hate to be this critical, but I had a horrible time playing this Asterix title. Which is a shame, cause this is the final game in the Master System Trilogy. I actually enjoyed the first game, despite its difficulty.

Asterix and Obelix control so sluggish. It’s a fight to get them to move quick enough to avoid enemy attacks. The enemies are much faster than you, so you will take hits guaranteed. The running requires a warm up delay, which is the worst when you need to move quickly. The enemy placements are extremely unfair. I was stuck on the first level, because I could not get past the flying enemies in the way of my pit jumps. The platforming is extremely difficult to maneuver, because of how bad the controls are. I fell to my death so many times. And the music is so ear piercingly bad. Uhhh!!

I can’t recommend this game. It is unbearable to control and the difficulty is unfair. Even the Asterix arcade game by Konami is too difficult! I’ve never played an arcade game with only 2 continues, despite how many credits inserted. Again, Uhhh!!
