Adventure Island 2 - Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

Master Higgins is back in a multi-island adventure! Princess Tina was once again captured by a new evil villain, Beelzebuff. Now Master Higgins must traverse eight islands, battling Beelzebuff's evil invading forces. He is not alone, cause now he has four dinosaur companions to aid him on his journey.

If you’re a classic platform gaming lover, well you’re in for a treat with Adventure Island II. Improving most of the flaws of the first game, and giving this sequel the same balls to the wall difficulty as the first. Only this time you have unlimited continues, without any secrets to find or a code to use.

Yes, this game is difficult, but it is a mostly fair challenge. It can be cruel with its enemy placements. You always have to be precarious with every move, because an enemy can appear instantly to take you out. There’s also a slight button input delay. There are several instances when I wanted to jump over a pit, only to run straight into it.

The graphics look Great! Bigger and more detailed sprite work. The colors are not as bright as the first game, but the details of everything on screen make up for it. The music is much better. Not the greatest tunes, but better than the first game.

I highly recommend Adventure Island II. If you enjoy overcoming tough games, then this one is for you. Yes, the game has its flaws, but the overall experience makes up for it. If you got a whole day to yourself, give it a play-through. "Git Gud" and Conquer!
