If you read my Blogger Profile, you know I Love, LOVE, 80’s and 90’s Action Movies. When I was growing up in the United States, my dad use to take me to the video rental stores to rent movies (and video games) almost every weekend. He let me pick whatever movie I wanted, despite my mom’s disapproval. One night, I picked the movie Aliens and instantly became a Fan of the Most Badass Woman in the Universe, Ellen Ripley. I then rented Alien the following weekend and loved the horror of it. Then I rented Alien 3, and was severely disappointed.
Anyways, this is Alien 3 on the SEGA Master System. It’s a run and gun platformer. You play as Ripley on a mission to rescue all the prisoners, before they become victims of spawning more Xenomorphs on the Prison Space Colony you’re stuck on. You got a timer, so you got to be on your toes. The controls are a little wonky. The movement is too fluid, like a lot of SEGA Master System games. I had difficulty going down a ladder, which should be simple. However, I do enjoy the action of spraying down Xenomorphs and Face Huggers. I began to have fun, once I got use to the controls.
This game is good. It’s difficult, but a “GIT GUD” difficulty. You may need to take it slow, until you get a handle of the fluid controls. I would like to play this to completion sometime. It’s definitely much better than the movie it’s based on.
