the Addams Family - Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

Based on the hit 1991 movie staring the late Raul Julia and Christopher Lloyd, you play as Gomez Addams on his mission to rescue his family and reclaim his fortune.  Ocean is the developer of this one. And if you know Ocean games, you know their…”Reputation”. It’s not LJN level of bad, but it’s still pretty awful. Gomez controls are really stiff. It feels like a fight to make him jump the direction I want him too. The enemies hit boxes are janky. There are a few times I jump on an enemy and fell right through them. It doesn’t help that the enemies are faster than you and have 100% Dead Aim Accuracy with their projectiles. Don’t get me started with all the beginner’s traps. And the music, it’s just the Addams Family theme in 8-Bit, and it gets annoying quick. I felt my ears sighing in relief when different background music began to play. This game is designed to terminate you without mercy. Everything is a hazard and the platforms are super tricky to land on with the stiff controls.

I love the Addams Family franchise. I really do. When I lived in the United States during my childhood, I use to watch the reruns on tv. I really enjoy the movie this game is based on too. However, if you don’t have the patience to withstand unfair gameplay, extreme difficulty and repetitive music, I say skip this one.
